The Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences I.M. Donnik to the Federal State Budgetary Institution "ARRIAH" subordinated to Rosselkhoznadzor

The meeting of the Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Irina Mikhailovna Donnik with the researchers of the FGBU “Federal Center for Animal Health” (FGBI “ARRIAH”) subordinate to ROSSELKHOZNADZOR took place on July 20, 2022.

Welcoming the guest, Deputy DIRECTOR for Research I.A. Chvala made a report on the ongoing research work and achievements of the scientists of the Center, as well as on promising areas of scientific research. The emphasis in the report was on the implementation of the import substitution policy and the production of domestic vaccines and test systems for veterinary medicine, applied research in the field of ecology and evolution of animal pathogens, identification and prediction of the risks of introduction and spread of infectious animal diseases, training of scientific personnel through postgraduate studies and the implementation of educational programs , issue of periodical scientific literature. Annually developed vaccines, diagnostics, guidelines are widely recognized in the scientific community,

Topical issues were discussed at the meeting, covering the interaction of the Russian Academy of Sciences with scientific institutions, educational institutions of higher education and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation; expansion of cooperation in the field of diagnostics and specific prevention of animal diseases; priority research and development; development of effective mechanisms for cooperation, in particular, conducting further vocational training for teachers and students of higher educational institutions, with a demonstration of the features of the development of infectious processes of diseases. The topic of African swine fever and avian influenza caused a heated discussion among the meeting participants, and scientists had the opportunity to exchange views on the role of wild animals in the spread of diseases,

The meeting participants confirmed their mutual interest in continuing and intensifying cooperation, including joint holding of seminars, conferences and symposiums, identifying priority tasks and ways to solve them.

The meeting ended with a visit to the reference laboratory for ASF. HEAD of Laboratory Ph.D. Igolkin A.S. introduced Irina Mikhailovna to the modern directions of ongoing research.
