A meeting for agricultural producers was held in the Turkmen region, chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory, Elena Tambovtseva, on the issues of reporting by small businesses on the purchase of seed material and increasing the share of domestically selected seeds in agricultural crops.
Representatives of the Stavropol branch of the Russian Agricultural Center took part in the meeting: HEAD of the plant protection department Natalya Luchko and head of the seed production department Alexey Ivanov.
Elena Tambovtseva recalled that the development of domestic selection is one of the most important tasks set by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation for the next few years. Seed production in the region is carried out by scientific breeding centers and large agricultural producers, 21 of which have the status of seed farms.
The head of the seed production department of the Stavropol branch of the Russian Agricultural Center, Alexey Ivanov, informed the audience about the main regulatory documents in the field of seed production and elaborated on the provisions of the Federal Law “On Seed Production”. The representative of the Rosselkhozcenter emphasized that for the production of seeds of agricultural plants, seeds must be used whose sowing and varietal qualities meet the requirements of regulatory documents in the field of seed production. it is prohibited to use seeds contaminated or contaminated with quarantine objects, and seeds containing GMOs.
The head of the seed production department of the regional branch of the Russian Agricultural Center also brought to the attention of those present that the FSIS "Seed Growing" system is being added to the existing FSIS "Mercury", FSIS "Saturn", FSIS "Grain". Its goal is the traceability of seed material from the originator's field to the final consumer, ensuring the quality of seed material, protecting the rights of the patent holder, and tightening control over the circulation of seeds on the market. Thanks to the FSIS “Seed Growing”, seed consumers will have information about the availability of seed material with the specified characteristics, about the quarantine and phytosanitary well-being of the seed producer and about seeds imported into the territory of the Russian Federation. Seed producers, accredited testing laboratories and inspection bodies, and the Federal State Budgetary Institution “State Variety Commission” are required to provide information to the program. In 2024
, the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Rosselkhoztsentr" will continue to monitor seed crops of agricultural plants with their georeferencing. As part of the execution of this order, specialists from district departments will enter primary information, it will be monitored and verified at the branch level, after which the information received will be consolidated and analyzed at the federal level.
The Stavropol branch of the Russian Agricultural Center reminds that agricultural producers need to timely determine the varietal and sowing (planting) qualities of seeds of agricultural plants in order to provide high-quality seeds and planting material. In each district of the Stavropol Territory there are structural divisions of the branch, where any agricultural producer can contact to receive the necessary services.
