The region was the first in the Volga Federal District to start harvesting, Roman Kovalsky, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government - Minister of Agriculture of the region, said at a meeting of the Regional Government.
Throughout history, the Saratov region has not started harvesting with such a yield that has developed for winter crops this year. The average yield is 28.8 q/ha. The minimum value - 18 centners per hectare - was noted in the Novouzensky district, the maximum - 38 centners per hectare - in Kalininsky. To date, individual farms in thirteen districts of the region are threshing winter wheat. In total, 10.9 thousand hectares were harvested, the gross harvest amounted to 31.2 thousand tons. The largest areas were harvested in the Engels and Dergachevsky municipal districts - 2.3 thousand hectares and 2.7 thousand hectares, respectively.
Camelina is being harvested on farms in four regions of the Left Bank. Threshed 950 hectares, the gross harvest amounted to 445 tons.
In the Engels, Rivne, Balakovsky, Dergachevsky, Krasnokutsky districts, cucumbers, zucchini, cabbage, and tomatoes are harvested. A total of 512 tons of early vegetable crops were harvested.
Focusing on the harvesting of fodder, Roman Kovalsky said that since the beginning of harvesting, 107 thousand tons of hay, or 3% of the need, and 46 thousand tons of haylage (95%) have been harvested in agricultural enterprises and peasant farms. Samoilovsky and Turkovsky districts are provided with hay in full, in twenty districts there is more than half of the need for hay. In the Kalininsky, Bazarno-Karabulaksky, Novoburassky and Marksovsky municipal districts, haylage harvesting has been completed. The population harvested 289 thousand tons of hay, which is 53% of the need for 542 tons. In twenty districts, the households have prepared more than half of the need, in Rtishchevsky and Ozinsky more than 100% have been prepared.
Forecast plans for the harvest are optimistic. “The minimum previously forecasted grain production was four and a half million tons. Now, taking into account the biological yield of winter, spring cereals and legumes, this is five and a half million tons, sunflower - more than 2 million tons, SUGAR beet - 359 thousand tons, vegetable crops in open ground in agricultural enterprises and peasant farms - 160 thousand tons, "the HEAD explained regional ministry of agriculture.
If we talk about the start of the 2022 harvesting year as a whole, the agricultural producers of the region have completed the preparation of grain harvesting equipment, mechtoks and storage facilities. Currently, roughage is being harvested, protective measures are being taken, crops are being irrigated and fallow fields are being cultivated.
