Russian «F+ tech| Marvel is developing its own printer and plans to bring it to the market under the F+ tech brand by the end of 2023, Aleksey Melnikov, managing partner of the company, told Vedomosti in an interview.

“We are working on creating our own printing device. I think that in 2023 we should present it in the third or fourth quarter. We will focus on the mass affordable segment and the average price, which is the main one for office printers,” he said.

According to him, in terms of technical characteristics, the new printer will be an analogue of the Lexmark MX-431 multifunction device (MFP) manufactured by the American company of the same name.

Russian business Lexmark «F+ tech| Marvel bought back in August 2022. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it was reported that F+ imaging branded equipment would continue to be contract-manufactured at the same factories as Lexmark equipment.

As Melnikov noted, the team that is developing the company's own printing device consists mainly of former Lexmark engineers, as well as specialists in the field of printing technology attracted from the market. The most popular models of A4 and A3 printers for black and white printing will be produced first, then the line will be supplemented with color models and photo printers, the company representative added.

He also clarified that “F+ tech| Marvel" is negotiating the assembly of printers with Russian contract manufacturers, but before the development of a point system (the scale used by the government for assessing the localization of production in RUSSIA. -) for printers, the company plans to focus on cooperation with Chinese factories. “We have our own facilities in Russia, where we have been assembling printers for two years already, and this year they will expand. By the time the [point] system starts working, they will be ready to localize production,” Melnikov said.

After the start of the military operation in Ukraine, a number of foreign printer manufacturers either suspended deliveries of equipment to Russia or left the market. The suspension of product deliveries to Russia in March last year was announced by HP, as well as the Japanese Ricoh Group and Epson. The American Xerox and the division of Canon in Europe, Africa and the Middle East announced that they were suspending work in Russia.

In response, the Ministry of Industry and Trade published a list of products allowed for import under the parallel import scheme, which included goods and materials from about a hundred foreign brands, including Kyocera, HP, Xerox, Canon, Epson, etc. In December, the HEAD of the Federal Customs Service (FCS), Vladimir Bulavin, reported that the volume of parallel imports to Russia exceeded $20 billion.

Earlier, RBC reported that by the autumn of last year, the Chinese printer manufacturer Pantum began to dominate the Russian market (53% of printers sold by the end of the third quarter, according to the analytical company ITResearch).
