Ukraine decided to abandon the list of “war sponsors”

The Ukrainian government has decided to abandon the list of “international war sponsors” maintained by the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP).

The Cabinet of Ministers held an extended meeting, which was attended by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Alexey Danilov, HEAD of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Vasily Malyuk, Prosecutor General Andrey Kostin and head of the NAPC Viktor Pavluschik. it was also attended by ambassadors and other diplomats from a number of countries.

“During the meeting, issues of functioning of the “International Sponsors of War” page on the website of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption were considered,” the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry reported “numerous appeals from representatives of the diplomatic corps of partner countries regarding the lack of a regulatory framework for the existence of a list of “international sponsors of war” and, accordingly, the negative impact of this list on the adoption of important decisions to counter” RUSSIA.

The Ministry of Justice, in turn, pointed out “the unacceptability of disseminating such information on behalf of the state without resolving issues at the legislative level.

“Representatives of the National Security and Defense Council, among other things, noted that there is no need for additional institutions to implement the state sanctions policy, since all comprehensive information on this issue is included in the State Register of Sanctions,” the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers said.

The NAPC agreed that there really is a question about the continued existence of the list.

As a result, they decided to transfer the information from the list to the Interdepartmental Working Group on the Implementation of State Sanctions Policy to “determine the grounds for applying sanctions to the entities listed on this resource and prepare appropriate proposals for consideration at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.” In addition, users from the “International Sponsors of War” page of the NACP will be redirected to the NSDC website “State Register of Sanctions,” which is “necessary for reliable and unified information about the official list of entities against which sanctions have been applied in Ukraine.”

Kiev included in the list of “war sponsors”, in particular, Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI), PepsiCo (Pepsi, Lay's, 7up, Mirinda brands), Nestle (KitKat, Maggi, Nescafe), Mars (Snickers, Milky Way, Twix, Bounty ), Mondelez (Oreo, Alpen Gold, Milka, Toblerone brands), Unilever (Domestos, Lipton, Ax, Dove), Chinese oil and gas company CNPC, electronics manufacturer Xiaomi, French retailer Auchan, ALCOHOL manufacturer Bacardi, Japanese tobacco company Japan Tobacco International. The reason for inclusion in the list, the Ukrainian authorities cited, among other things, was that those involved in the list continued to work in Russia after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine .
