The first station of the City Train project was opened in Novosibirsk

The first station in the framework of the City Train project, the Prigorodny Prostor platform, was opened on July 8, the press service of the government of the Novosibirsk Region reported.

At the opening of the platform, Andrey Travnikov, Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, emphasized that the City Electric train project is aimed at solving the transport problems of the Novosibirsk agglomeration and, in particular, the left-bank part of the regional center through the organization of suburban passenger rail traffic.

“The opening of the first platform may be a modest event, but this step has already shown the demand for the project on the part of Novosibirsk,” the governor said.

The HEAD of the West Siberian Railway Alexander Gritsay noted that the trip from the station "Prigorodny Prostor" to the platform "Novosibirsk - Glavny" will be 30 minutes, to the station "Gagarinskaya" - 38 minutes, to "Novosibirsk - Vostochny" - 45 minutes. It's faster than by car.

Travnikov noted that the regional government is committed to further constructive interaction with Russian Railways and State Duma deputies. The head of the region noted that in 2018 the authorities of the region planned to get into the national project, but now the project is being implemented at the expense of the region's capabilities.
