Chile becomes second-largest market for Brazilian pork

According to Secex data analyzed by the institute, shipment volumes increased from 7,700 tons in January of this year to 13,300 tons in August. The most significant event was July, when 14,500 tons of pork were shipped to the South American country, double the amount in January.

As a result, researchers note, Chile became the second-largest market for Brazilian protein in July and August, overtaking CHINA , which previously held the title . The Philippines has remained the largest market for Brazilian beef since February of this year.

According to Cepea's analysis, the increase in supplies to Chile is due to the fact that the government of that country in April of this year (and officially confirmed in July) that the state of Paraná (the country's second-largest producer) is free of foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination and classical swine fever.
