In Spain, since June 26, the mandatory wearing of protective masks on the street, introduced due to the CORONAVIRUS pandemic, has been canceled.
The easing of epidemiological measures last week was announced by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. Then this decision was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of HEALTH of Spain.
According to Health Minister Carolina Darias, masks are not required to be worn outdoors as long as a distance of 1.5 m is maintained. However, they will be required in busy places, such as shopping streets, or during major events.

In all closed public places, including shops, cinemas, theatres, libraries and museums, the wearing of masks remains mandatory. The rule also applies to public transport.
As noted by The Local, the rule applies throughout Spain, but the regions can make a decision depending on the situation. For example, the authorities of Andalusia and Asturias recommended that they continue to be worn outdoors.
The Spanish authorities have made it mandatory for citizens to wear masks in public places in the spring of 2020. In March 2021, the rule was tightened, requiring people to wear protective equipment on the street, regardless of the distance observed between people.
According to Johns Hopkins University, since the beginning of the pandemic in Spain, 3.7 million cases of COVID-19 infection have been confirmed, 80.7 thousand patients have died. According to The Local, as of mid-June, 47% of the country's population received at least one component of the coronavirus vaccine. The publication notes that the current infection rate is the lowest since August 2020.
