From November 22, the Slovak authorities will introduce a lockdown in the country for citizens who have not been vaccinated against CORONAVIRUS infection against the backdrop of a sharp increase in the number of cases and hospitalizations. This was reported by REUTERS with reference to a statement by Prime Minister Eduard Heger.
“This is isolation for the unvaccinated,” he stressed during a press conference. Citizens will not be able to visit restaurants, shopping centers, shops (except those selling essential goods), social and sports events. In order to work, unvaccinated employees will need to be tested twice a week.
Restrictive measures will last three weeks, the agency specifies. They do not apply to those who have been vaccinated against coronavirus infection, and those who have had covid-19 in the past six months.
Heger said that the purpose of introducing new restrictive measures is to stabilize the situation in hospitals, where most of the beds are occupied by unvaccinated patients with coronavirus, Novy Cas reports. “We are doing this for their [unvaccinated] HEALTH and protection,” he said.
