Kaliningrad authorities recommended the use of masks in crowded places

Residents of the Kaliningrad region are advised to return to wearing masks in public places due to an increase in the incidence of influenza, SARS and CORONAVIRUS. This was reported on the website of Rospotrebnadzor in the region.

“The Department recommends, in the face of a worsening epidemiological situation, to return to the use of personal protective equipment in transport, crowded places, when visiting hospitals, pharmacies, clinics, banks, multifunctional centers, post offices,” the message says.

The agency emphasizes that the epidemiological situation has worsened this week. Thus, the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections increased by 14% over the week, and more than 5,000 people applied for medical help with symptoms of a respiratory disease.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor said that Russia does not plan to introduce new anti-coronavirus measures, including for those entering from abroad.

The HEAD of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, noted in October that this season the coronavirus behaves like seasonal viruses familiar to Russians, and the peak incidence coincided with the September rise in SARS. She did not rule out an increase in the incidence of covid-19 by the end of autumn. Rospotrebnadzor warned about the increase in influenza activity in mid-November.

On November 30, 6088 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in Russia per day. 1341 people were hospitalized, 59 infected people died. This is the second time since the beginning of November, when the number of cases exceeds 6 thousand. The chief specialist of the Ministry of HEALTH for infectious diseases, Professor Vladimir Chulanov, did not rule out that the incidence of coronavirus in Russia would increase again due to the spread of the Cerberus strain. He was identified in the country at the end of October.

On November 29, Rospotrebnadzor reported that the incidence of influenza and SARS in Russia increased by 18.5% compared to the previous week.
According to the agency, in 43 regions, the incidence rate exceeded the national average. Among influenza viruses, the predominant strain is A (H1N1) -2009 - the so-called swine flu.
