March 5,
MINSK . Based on the results of 2023, Turkish residents increased the amount of transactions on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange by 2.7 times. At the same time, the number of Turkish companies accredited to participate in exchange trading increased from 32 in 2022 to 70 in 2023. The
HEAD of the foreign economic activity department of BUTB, Alexander Bashliy, spoke about this during the Belarusian-Turkish business forum, organized by the National Marketing Center together with the Association of Turkish Businessmen (ASRIAD), BelTA was told in the press service of the exchange.
Last year, Turkish business entities actively worked on the Belarusian exchange platform as buyers.
Woodworking products and scrap metals were in greatest demand . These positions provided over 90% of the exchange trade turnover of Belarus and Turkey in 2023. However,
imports accounted for only about 2% of the total volume of transactions. These were mainly supplies of viscose yarn for Belarusian textile enterprises. In this regard, according to Alexander Bashlia, the priority task at present is to expand the range of goods involved in exchange trading with Turkey. This will allow Turkish enterprises from such areas as
agriculture , mechanical engineering, and the chemical industry to be attracted to BUCE, which will contribute to the growth of Belarusian-Turkish exchange trade turnover.
“Currently, the commodity structure of transactions concluded by Turkish companies is poorly diversified. Essentially, these are lumber, metal waste and textile raw materials, which, naturally, is not enough to fully unlock the potential of exchange trading between our countries. Therefore, we are interested in joining the exchange business representatives from other areas. For example, in the agricultural sector
it would be advisable to work on the supply of Belarusian vegetable oils,
MILK powder, beet pulp and molasses to Turkey. If we talk about imports, spare parts and components for cars and equipment will definitely be in demand in Belarus, as well as industrial equipment. By the way, in 2022, at our site of industrial and consumer goods there was already a deal for the purchase of a Turkish line for bottling milk and dairy products. The seller was the direct manufacturer of this equipment," said the head of the BUTB foreign trade department.
During B2B negotiations held within the framework of the business forum, agreements were reached on the accreditation of Turkish importers of
MEAT products and oilseed processing products at BUCE. In addition, suppliers of spare parts for construction equipment, plumbing equipment and polymer materials were interested in participating in exchange trading.
