November 7, Ostrovets District. The ceremonial opening of the Gudogai dairy complex was held in the Ostrovets District, BelTA reports.
The Dreveniki dairy complex is designed to house 1,600
HEAD of cattle , including 600 dairy cows. This is the first of ten investment projects in the Grodno Region aimed at creating modern production facilities in accordance with a decree of the President of the Republic of
Belarus as part of a large-scale program for the construction and renovation of dairy complexes.
As Yuri Karayev, Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, noted, technologies in
dairy production mean new complexes. "When we move from a linear farm to a multi-purpose complex, where the staff is much smaller and there are more animals, which, using this milking and feeding technology, produce more
MILK. One can argue that a linear farm offers a more individualized approach and more attention to each animal, but this requires more people, which are few," said Yuri Karaev, emphasizing that innovations have been implemented at the open-air facility that allow for high-quality and productive work while easing the workers' burden.
The regional governor added: "The complex is no more than two weeks old, but based on the raw numbers, processes are progressing. Results are improving in terms of litter size, insemination (although this
work was not carried out here, but still), and daily milk yield—they started with 19 and have reached 21.5 liters per cow. This inspires confidence."
As Sergei Medzvetskas, Chairman of the Ostrovets District Executive Committee, noted, the opening of these MTCs fulfills the head of state's goal of transferring cows from linear farms to dairy complexes. "With the commissioning of this complex, we now have 13 MTCs, and 88% of the animals are housed in modern buildings. Seven linear farms remain that need to be transformed and their livestock brought up to modern standards by 2030. We know the plan and understand how to do this. Today's opening is another step toward achieving this goal," he said, adding that this will allow for increased production volumes and improved quality.
Construction began in September
2024. The complex includes two cowsheds, a modern milking unit, a building for housing dry cows and heifers, and a high-performance pumping station. Every element of the complex was carefully designed and engineered, taking into account the latest advances in livestock farming. The storage facility will feature underfloor heating. As the workers themselves note, this is a new stage in the farm's development.
A veterinarian
Ruslan Stekh, a member of the Gudogai Agricultural Unitary Enterprise, has been working in agriculture for 14 years and shares that he has a lot to compare
it to. "First and foremost, conditions have improved for the animals. But, just as importantly, for the workers as well. We're no longer on a drafty farm," he said. He returned to his hometown after completing his studies and has been working there ever since. "I've been working on farms with my mother since I was probably three years old. She was a livestock breeder. So, I've been drawn to this kind of work since childhood. I put my heart and soul into my work, and I love animals. People say I'm married to my job. I always work with dedication, but now we'll work with even more enthusiasm and desire," he added.
