Command and staff exercises to eliminate a conditional focus of highly pathogenic avian influenza were held in Khabarovsk

Conducting exercises to eliminate the focus of a particularly dangerous disease was caused by a tense epizootic situation on the territory of the Russian Federation.

According to the scenario, in one of the private farms in Khabarovsk there was a death of poultry, the owner immediately turned to the regional animal disease control station. After confirming the diagnosis, the development of a set of measures to eliminate the source of infection began.

During the exercises, the veterinary service of the Khabarovsk Territory clearly demonstrated the algorithm of actions for eliminating the disease, carrying out bloodless slaughter in a conditional epizootic focus, the destruction of forcedly slaughtered animals, the procedure for selecting and delivering samples of biological and pathological material to the veterinary laboratory, the destruction of corpses, feed and equipment, as well as carrying out disinfection of the livestock facility, the adjacent territory and the transport involved.

Based on the results of the exercise, issues of interagency cooperation between the executive authorities of the Khabarovsk Territory and federal executive authorities were worked out in the implementation of a set of measures to prevent the spread and eliminate the source of infection in the event of its occurrence.
