Russia will introduce criminal penalties for falsification of cheeses, butter and sausages

“To work out the issue of amending the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation in terms of introducing, respectively, criminal and administrative liability for falsification of food products during their production and circulation in order to protect the life and HEALTH of the population,” the document says.

The document was prepared by the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues after the speech of the HEAD of the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR, Sergei Dankvert, at the plenary session of the lower house on June 28. Then the speaker of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, proposed to urgently prepare changes to the legislation.

“We need to introduce criminal liability for those who use such substitutes (palm oil , beef fat, and so on. – “ViZh”). it is clear that they are cheaper, more profitable, but, on the other hand, it is harmful to health,” said Viacheslav Volodin.

Sergei Dankvert supported the proposal of the Chairman of the State Duma. Recall that earlier the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor also advocated tougher liability for the production of counterfeit products.

Previously, "Veterinary Medicine and Life" talked about the dangers for consumers of falsifying products with palm oil, as well as about which products are faked using beef fat.
