Thirty new agricultural laboratories to open in Russia in 2023

Russian agriculture needs tens of thousands of highly qualified specialists and dozens of new laboratories, experts say. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Dmitry Pyshny during the forum "Biotechnologies in Agriculture". In the message, the official noted that 150 such laboratories were created last year and 30 more will be opened in 2023.

New laboratories will allow Russian agriculture to develop and compete with the agro-industrial complex of other countries, the official believes. On the basis of laboratories, new varieties and hybrids of agricultural crops can be created, high-quality seeds and planting materials will be provided. Specialists trained under new programs in high-tech centers will be engaged in breeding, biotechnology and other branches of agroscience. Due to scientific progress, the Russian agro-industrial complex will be able to accelerate import substitution.

The development of agro-science takes place within the framework of the Science and Universities project, the official noted. Recall that the project was launched in the summer of 2020 and assumes that through the modernization of the scientific industry and higher education, RUSSIA will become one of the top ten countries in terms of the number of scientific developments.
