Despite the anti-flood measures taken, mass deaths of livestock and horses were noted in the Khatyryk and Maimaginsky naslegs of the Namsky ulus, the Yakut-Sakha Information Agency reported on May 19.

“Last night, the group completed work on strengthening the dam in the Khatyn-Aryn nasleg; 90 heads of cattle were evacuated to a safe place in two farms in the village of Modut. The situation in the Olekminsky district is also under the control of the Ministry of Agriculture of Yakutia. Today, the working group is working to conduct a survey and assess material damage from the death of cattle and horses,” saidMinister of Agriculture of the Republic Artem Alexandrov.

According to the HEAD of the agriculture department of the Namsky ulus, Vladimir Makarov, those villages that have never experienced flooding before have suffered. The flood took us by surprise. Great damage was caused to one farm in the Khatyryk nasleg.

Let us recall that in Yakutia, on the night of May 15-16, 2001, as a result of an 80-kilometer ice jam on the Lena River, also unexpectedly, the city of Lensk was first flooded above the level of the second floor within a few hours, and then practically demolished by huge ice floes.

As a result of the disaster, more than three thousand houses were destroyed.

More than 30 thousand people were affected by the flood. 6 people died.
