Agriculture in the Kursk region is developing steadily. The agricultural production index in 2023 was 106%, which exceeds the national average. Also in the region, wages in the industry and the share of profitable agricultural organizations are above average. The efficient operation of business is also facilitated by government support: in 2024 , 2.4 billion rubles were allocated for the development of the region’s agro-industrial complex, of which 63% has already been delivered to the final recipients.
Currently, grain harvesting has begun in the region , and good yields are noted - about 55 c/ha. This is partly due to high rates of fertilizer application - at the end of last year the level exceeded 160 kg per hectare, this year the plan is even higher.
Both last year and in the first quarter of the current year, there is a positive trend in livestock farming. Both the MEAT and dairy sectors are showing growth. At the same time, the subject needs to increase the rate of registration of farm animals in the Horriot system, which will increase the efficiency of the complex of anti-epizootic measures. By September 1, 100% of cattle and pigs, as well as poultry in the industrial sector must be accounted for .
The development of the raw material base stimulates the food and processing industries. In 2023, production volumes of vegetable oil, sausages, cereals, SUGAR, butter and other products increased. Growth in many areas has continued this year.
Particular attention in the region is paid to increasing the EXPORT of agricultural products. In 2023, the volume of food supplies abroad amounted to $838 million at current prices. At the end of June, exports were up 16% year-on-year.
During the meeting, Oksana Lut and Alexey Smirnov also discussed issues of implementing the state program “Comprehensive Development of Rural Territories” and improving the quality of life of people. The region pays special attention to the formation of long-term plans for the development of support settlements, which should synchronize the resources of all support measures.
