The use of semen from Zvartbles breeding rams is due to the fact that Zvartbles also have white markings on the head and muzzle. In addition to external similarity, such insemination results in an almost complete absence of fat tail in the offspring, due to the redistribution of the meat mass.
The average live weight of ewes at the time of filming was 78-80 kg, and of ewes 65-68 kg. The yield of meat from the carcass is up to 55%. As for wool, there is no demand for it, but with government support the situation may change.
To help the shepherds, there are guard dogs on the pasture that sense the wolf from afar, which allows the shepherd to take timely measures to preserve the sheep population. In addition, they help during hauls, which can reach up to 200 kilometers and last about a week.
