The G7 countries decided to ban all new investment in the Russian economy, and also promised to tighten sanctions against RUSSIA. This is stated in a joint statement adopted by the G7 member countries due to reports of what happened in the city of Bucha, Kyiv region.
The G7 decided that new investments in the Russian economy are incompatible with the interests of the "Seven" in the field of security and with the goal of stopping hostilities in Ukraine.
“We prohibit new investments in key sectors of the Russian economy, including energy,” the document says.
What happened in Bucha
Photos and videos from the cities of Bucha and Irpin, Kyiv region, were distributed on April 3 by the Ukrainian authorities and journalists from REUTERS, AFP and the BBC. They show mass graves and the bodies of people on the streets, some with their hands tied. The city's mayor Anatoly Fedoruk told AFP that 280 people were buried in mass graves. According to Fedoruk, the people depicted in the pictures were shot dead.
The Russian Defense Ministry called the published footage a provocation. The military department insists that during the time that Bucha was under the control of the Russian military, not a single local resident suffered from any violent actions, while the Ukrainian military shelled the southern districts of the city around the clock from large-caliber artillery, tanks and rocket systems salvo fire. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered the purpose of distributing materials from Bucha to disrupt Russian-Ukrainian negotiations. The Kremlin called publications about the events in Bucha a forgery committed to denigrate the Russian army, as well as a "well-directed tragic show."
