Sanctions against RUSSIA should be viewed from the point of view of the "reverse effect" on the development opportunities of the economies of the countries that adopt them, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said at a press conference, according to the website of the German government.

“Perhaps this is not a short-term event, but a longer conflict,” the German chancellor explained.

Scholz noted that the issue of the reverse effect of sanctions also applies to many other EU countries, "which are very dependent on the import of coal, gas and oil, even more than Germany." According to him, Berlin's position on this issue has remained unchanged. The Chancellor also noted that Germany intends to achieve independence from the supply of Russian coal, oil and gas imports as soon as possible, the relevant activities are carried out with maximum intensity and speed.

“However, in some cases it still requires some very intensive construction work and of course contracts that need to be awarded all over the world. But they are intensively working on this everywhere, including jointly in Europe, ”concluded Scholz.
