The Leninsky District COURT of Rostov-on-Don sentenced five participants in an unsanctioned protest against CORONAVIRUS restrictions in Vladikavkaz in April 2020 to various terms of imprisonment. This was reported to RBC in the joint press service of the courts of the Rostov region.
In accordance with the court decision, Artur Bugulov and David Okruashvili were sentenced to five years and three months in a general regime colony, Aslan Gasiev and Zaza Tsaritov to five years, and Magomed Kadyrov to five years and six months in prison.
According to Kommersant, the representative of the prosecution at the court hearing said that the five defendants were among the most active participants in the unauthorized rally and resisted the lawful demands of the police. Evidence of their guilt was, in particular, the video footage recording what was happening, as well as the testimony of police officers.
The verdict was passed under Part 2 of Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of RUSSIA (participation in mass riots), according to which the guilty can be sentenced to up to eight years in prison. Two defendants fully admitted their guilt, and Bugulov, Kadyrov and Okruashvili stated that they happened to be near the scene of events.
