Brylo: there is enough food raw materials and goods on the domestic market

January 19, MINSK. There is enough food raw materials and goods on the domestic market of Belarus. First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Igor Brylo told journalists about this today, BelTA has learned.

Since January 1, in response to sanctions , Belarus has introduced a number of goods from states that carry out unfriendly actions against our country. The list of prohibited goods includes pigs, cattle MEAT, pork, a number of offal, salted meat, in brine, dried or smoked meat, food meal from meat or meat offal, MILK and dairy products (with some exceptions), vegetables, except for those intended for seeds, fruits and nuts, pig fat and poultry fat, cattle, sheep or goat fat, lard stearin and other animal oils, sausages and similar products, confectionery, SALT and other products.

When asked whether the Belarusian market would face a shortage of products, Igor Brylo replied: “We not only have enough raw materials, there are much more of them. Today we have more than 400 types of hard and semi-hard cheeses. We produce about 250 thousand tons a year of such cheeses, and last year they imported 1.4 thousand tons. So the numbers are not comparable, and it cannot be said that someone has lost something. The range of soft cheeses has also increased.”

He also touched upon the topic of import substitution of meat products. “Probably, various kinds of products are of interest first of all - jamon and so on. Last year, we brought only 20 tons of such a product to the country, and produced about 480 tons. So there will be Belarusian meat products on the tables, which are not inferior to imported ones. in terms of quality," the First Deputy Minister noted.

"Our processors produce more than 1,500 dairy products and 1,000 meat products. And every year they increase this line," a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food noted.

Today, Minsk is hosting the Trade Dialog of domestic food producers with representatives of retail and HoReCa (the so-called hospitality segment, which unites cafes, restaurants, tourism and hotel business. - Note by BelTA) "We open our own". Organizers - MART and magazine "Produkt.BY". The main theme is import substitution. The program of the event includes a presentation and business tasting of domestic cheeses, as well as meat delicacies. As a result of the tasting, direct negotiations between producers and representatives of retail and HoReCa will take place. A round table is also planned with the participation of representatives of MART and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, during which technical issues of accelerating the process of import substitution will be resolved.

"The main goal of this event is to gather the restaurant and hotel business that worked with imported raw materials and show how tasty our cheeses and meat delicacies are, how wide the assortment list that we produce is," said Igor Brylo.
