14 August, MINSK . The total harvest of grain, corn and rapeseed this year may reach 11 million tonnes, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Vladimir Grakun told reporters, BELTA reports.
"Today we see that in total, more than 700 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops remain to be harvested - they have already been harvested on 63% of the area. We can have around 8 million tonnes of them. In addition, today we have 900 thousand tonnes of winter rapeseed. We still have 15 thousand hectares to harvest, and another 40 thousand hectares of spring rapeseed. In total, we expect more than 1 million tonnes of winter rapeseed," Vladimir Grakun said.
He added that the prospects for the corn harvest this year are also good. "Corn is developing normally, with a delay of about one and a half to two weeks compared to last year due to frosts. I think that the volumes of corn grain and feed that we are planning will be fulfilled. We are calculating more than 2 million tons, we can even safely say that 2.5 million tons of corn," said a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture.
This year, the weather has thrown up surprises for farmers, but, according to the deputy minister, if good weather conditions develop this week, then the harvesting of grain and leguminous crops can be completed within seven days. After that, corn and spring rape will begin. "Today, there are already districts that have completed the harvest. We are organizing the transfer of combines to prevent losses and to efficiently harvest the entire crop that has formed in the fields. We are considering the issue of providing assistance from one region to another if necessary. For example, the Vitebsk region is the most over-moistened due to rains, and other regions are ready to lend a shoulder and provide support for harvesting grain there," the deputy minister noted.
More specifically, the harvest has been completed in some districts of the Brest region, and in general, the region has harvested 86%. Work is also ending in the Gomel region, and the Zhitkovichi district is already transferring its combines. The same trend is visible in the Minsk region. "I think that agricultural enterprises and the agro-industrial complex will efficiently and without losses harvest the crop that is in the fields," Vladimir Grakun emphasized. "It cannot be said that agriculture is working without problems, but we know how to solve them, and we are solving them."
it is safe to say that Belarusians will not be left without supplies - 98% of rapeseed oilseeds have already been delivered to the state order. Four regions have completely closed the state order, only two remain. "42% of food grain supplies have been completed, which will be used for FLOUR, bread, cereals. Our population will be fully provided for," said the deputy minister. " Mostly livestock products ( MEAT , MILK ) and crop production ( potatoes and flax) are exported ."
