August 22,
MINSK . The Leninsky District Department of the Investigative Committee of Minsk has completed its investigation into a criminal case against a Minsk woman who tortured a helpless disabled man, the Investigative Committee told BELTA.
According to case materials, the Minsk resident had known the pensioner for over 20 years. After her partner was convicted and sent to prison, and left without support, she turned to an old acquaintance, an 86-year-old disabled man, who offered to move in with him.
According to investigators, the 40-year-old woman abused
ALCOHOL, which led to her being repeatedly placed in a therapeutic-labor facility. In November
2024 , after drinking alcohol, she became aggressive, using obscene language, and threatening to kill the elderly man. These conflicts began to escalate into physical violence and became increasingly frequent. One day, in a fit of anger, a resident of the capital threw a helpless elderly man off a sofa and then beat him with a metal cane.
Investigators determined that their last conflict occurred in May 2025. Early in the morning, the woman turned the television on full blast and began demanding
money from the pensioner . After receiving 20 Belarusian rubles from him, she asked for more, and when he refused, she struck him in the leg at least twice with a pipe from a metal curtain rod. The desperate pensioner contacted law enforcement.
During interrogation, the accused did not deny her guilt and explained that her aggressive behavior was the result of excessive alcohol consumption. In recent years, she had not worked, living on the elderly
man's pension . She has no criminal record, but has been repeatedly held administratively liable.
The actions of the Minsk resident are classified under Part 2 of Article 154 (torture committed against an elderly person or a person in a helpless state, known to the perpetrator) of the Criminal Code.
