Vance said Trump sees no point in economically isolating Russia

The Vice President noted that the United States is ready to develop cooperation with RUSSIA in the future, and its isolation makes no sense if the conflict in Ukraine ends. Without progress in the settlement, Trump threatens sanctions against Moscow and its partners J.D. Vance

US President Donald Trump sees no reason to isolate Russia economically outside the context of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, US Vice President J.D. Vance said on One America News Network. The recording was published on YouTube.

"The president has been very forthright with both the Europeans and the Russians, saying that he sees no reason to isolate Russia economically except to continue the conflict. He wants the killing to stop. And as far as a peace settlement, he is open to a range of economic agreements that benefit the United States of America," Vance said.

The vice president said that once the peace settlement is completed, Washington “can have a very productive economic relationship” with both Kiev and Moscow. He stressed that “whether you like Russia or not, whether you agree or disagree with the underlying causes of their conflict,” the country is rich in minerals.

Trump has been threatening sanctions for the past few months over the lack of progress in the peace process. Among the measures the US has decided to take is the introduction of secondary restrictions in the form of additional duties on India due to purchases of Russian oil . In early September, Trump said that he had not yet begun “either the second or third phase” of pressure on Russia, but he mentioned the measures taken against New Delhi. On Sunday, the American president answered positively to a question about whether he was ready to move to the second phase of sanctions against Moscow. Trump did not reveal what this meant.

The Indian side called the imposed duties unfair and did not refuse to buy fuel from Russia. According to the Financial Times, the US wants the EU to join in pressuring India and CHINA with tariffs . US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stressed that with Europe's support the US is ready for "tough measures".

The president's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, noted that an "unprecedented" number of sanctions had been applied against Russia, but that this had proven useless and would not force it to abandon its goals in Ukraine.
