FAO launches project to develop small ruminant production in seven countries

Kazakhstan will be one of the seven countries where the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is implementing a program to improve the efficiency of breeding small ruminants.

The project, which is funded by Turkey, aims to eradicate hunger, eradicate poverty, fight climate change, preserve terrestrial ecosystems and develop sustainable livestock.

The launch of the FAO program was today marked by a regional online workshop opened by FAO Senior Animal Production and Veterinary Specialist, Project Lead Technical Specialist Eran Raizman and Deputy DIRECTOR of Animal Production at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey Burhan Demirok.

During the implementation of the FAO program, the farms of seven beneficiary countries: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will familiarize themselves with new technologies for keeping and production systems for small ruminants. The project is designed for the period until the end of 2024.
