Poultry farm "Araks" again fell into the field of view of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition. The company was fined 4 million 817 thousand drams, the Zhoghovurd newspaper writes on Tuesday.
The fact is that the poultry farm sold chicken eggs labeled “eoos” and “ECOS”, as well as frozen chickens, chicken legs, breasts and wings also labeled “eoos”. Meanwhile, these products are not licensed organic agricultural products. The State Commission saw this as unfair competition.
Vahe Martirosyan, a representative of the Araks company, told the publication that when the SCPEC fined Araks, the poultry farm did not dispute this decision.
“The commission argued that we used the ECO label, which is against the law. We agreed with the offense attributed to us and changed the marking. There was some kind of inscription on the label, the commission told us that consumers can identify products as “ECO” by it, we agreed to change it too,” Martirosyan told the newspaper.
According to him, the proceedings were started again, because "a certain period was given to eliminate the offense."
