On January 25, at approximately 9:00 PM, the Dzerzhinsky District Department of Internal Affairs received a report from a concerned citizen about a Lexus whose driver was presumably intoxicated arriving at a gas station. Responding traffic police officers spotted the vehicle near the village of Staraya Ruditsa and signaled the driver to stop. However, the driver accelerated and attempted to flee. A pursuit ensued.

To prevent the driver from fleeing, one of the traffic police officers used a gun. The result was a damaged front left tire and a vanished attempt to evade responsibility for the driver, a 49-year-old Minsk resident.

A medical examination revealed a blood alcohol level of 1.59 ppm, and the man's driver's license was revoked. Seven administrative protocols were filed against him, and the offender was placed in a temporary detention facility. Furthermore, an investigation is underway for the illegal seizure of a vehicle under the Criminal Procedure Code.

Law enforcement officials remind the public that drunk driving carries a fine of up to Br9,000 and a driver's license suspension for up to five years.
