2025 , with livestock farming accounting for the main gain. The sector's performance for the year and potential for growth were discussed at a meeting of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee chaired by Yuri Karayev, Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, BelTA reports. "The
head of state is paying particular attention to the development of the agro-industrial complex.
Agriculture is a priority area in our country. That is why we are constantly monitoring this sector. When summing up the results, we pay attention to every aspect, and the heads of all districts in the region participate in this discussion," Yuri Karayev emphasized. Despite vagaries of weather (a rather difficult
spring , high precipitation in the summer, and excessive precipitation in the fall), the agricultural sector of the Grodno Region nevertheless increased production to
2024 levels in
2025 – an increase of 101%. The increase was driven by livestock production, which reached 3.3% of the previous year's figure. According to Igor Sorokin, Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee's Committee on Agriculture and Food,
sugar beet production has exploded: for the first time, the region harvested 2 million tons.
Milk production in the region and sales to dairy processing plants have reached more than 105% of the
2024 target. Dairy products are exported to more than 20 countries, with new customers also joining the list. For
the New Year, Grodno region farmers have set a goal of increasing
agricultural production by another 5%. The goal set by the head of state to harvest at least 2.5 million tons of grain, including corn and rapeseed, remains a priority. To this end, agricultural machinery is currently being repaired, with over 70% of the equipment already repaired. According to
the government's goal , this will be achieved by March 1. Mineral fertilizers are being accumulated. "As for the acreage, no significant changes in the structure are planned this year. Rapeseed acreage will increase by approximately 5%. We will also focus on corn, which is in demand in livestock farming. Regarding sugar beets, Grodno region farmers have already supplied the Skidel Sugar Refinery with its full supply. There are no plans to expand the acreage; production growth can only be achieved through increased yields," added Igor Sorokin.
