A warehouse in the Minsk region improperly stored powdered milk: a court ordered compensation of Br2 million.

January 30, Minsk . The Minsk Region Economic Court ordered compensation of nearly Br2 million in damages due to improper storage of food products, BelTA reports, citing the court's press service.

Case materials indicate that in March 2024 , the parties entered into a storage agreement for skim milk powder weighing over 1,700 tons and valued at over Br12 million.

During an inspection of the warehouse in April 2024, it was discovered that some of the dairy products were stored alongside household chemicals (washing powders, detergents, etc.), in violation of established sanitary standards.

Testing of food samples revealed a foreign odor not typical of milk powder, indicating spoilage.

The court found evidence of improper performance by the custodian. It was established that some of the milk powder (over 230 tons), valued at approximately Br2 million, had become unusable and must be disposed of.

In its decision, the court established a causal relationship between the defendant's improper performance of its contractual obligations, which involved storing animal-based food products alongside non-food products, which is unacceptable, and the deterioration of the food products delivered by the plaintiff.

Therefore, the court ordered the defendant to compensate the plaintiff for damages equal to the value of the products to be disposed of, and also awarded legal costs. The decision has entered into legal force.
