January 27, Grodno. The Grodno Regional Executive Committee's Committee on Agriculture and Food explained who is being "warmed up" at dairy farms and how winter crops are coping with frost
, according to a BelTA correspondent. "Winter crops are doing well in the fields," explained Igor Sorokin, chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Food. "Every month, our practical agronomists, as well as scientific organizations, select the layers, and currently there are enough sugars for successful overwintering."
For crop production, this is the optimal winter, with snow and frost, the source noted. Snow prevents winter crops from perishing, and low temperatures kill all kinds of agricultural pests.
Igor Sorokin also discussed how wintering is progressing at livestock farms and dairy complexes. "All farms in the Grodno region were prepared for winter well in advance, before November 1st, with repaired doors, watering systems, housing, and milking. When the cold weather arrived, the primary focus was on calf care. Additional insulation was installed, and, if necessary, they were moved to other facilities. Furthermore, the calves were given an additional third milking session to strengthen their young
bodies ," explained Igor Sorokin.
