The wave of the omicron strain in RUSSIA, judging by the experience of other countries, will be powerful, but will pass quickly, Hans Kluge, DIRECTOR of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, said in an interview with TASS.

“We see, based on the experience of countries where the peak has already been reached, that the wave will be powerful, but short, and the priority is to protect vulnerable populations,” he said.

According to Kluge, on average, from the beginning of a wave to its peak in other countries, it took from 20 to 25 days.

Kluge warned that because of the spread of the "omicron" in Russia, it is "too early to relax." Among the recommendations to overcome the new wave, he listed five pandemic stabilizers: vaccination and revaccination, mask regimen, airing, especially school classes, and increasing the availability of treatment.
