In Ufa, the organizer of a rehabilitation center was sentenced for kidnapping

The Supreme COURT of Bashkiria passed a sentence on Dmitry Korshunov, the founder of the Ufa-based Save Yourself LLC. The owner of the organization was found guilty of illegal kidnapping under the guise of treatment for ALCOHOL and drug addiction, according to the regional prosecutor's office.

The court found that Korshunov registered a company to provide services with accommodation, together with an accomplice in the Ufimsky and Chishminsky districts of the republic, he rented cottages and organized centers for the rehabilitation of addicts in them. In their activities, the accomplices involved seven more people, the roles between all members of the group were clearly distributed.

From April 2019 to March 2020, the accomplices forcibly brought four people to the rehabilitation center. The wards were periodically subjected to physical and moral-psychological influence: they were tied to beds, doused with cold water and humiliated in every possible way. Metal bars were installed on the windows in the rooms, window handles were dismantled, the guests could not leave the territory - the fence and the entrance doors were locked.

As RBC Ufa reported, the cost of providing services in the center ranged from 30,000 to 60,000 rubles per month. According to the Investigative Committee, the organization rented three cottages in turn, periodically changing the location of the center for the purpose of conspiracy. Relatives of addicts were misled by employees about the legality of their work and the rehabilitation methods they used.

“Illegal activities were stopped by law enforcement officers. The defendant fully admitted his guilt, the materials regarding other members of the group have been separated into a separate proceeding and are at the stage of trial, ”the prosecutor’s office said.

Korshunov was sentenced under paragraphs "a", "c", "h" part 2 of Art. 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (kidnapping) to three years in prison. He will serve his sentence in a strict regime colony. The verdict has not yet entered into force and can be appealed. In total, nine persons involved in the case of the Save Yourself Center are residents of Ufa and the Ufa region aged 33 to 50 years.

According to the RBC Company resource, Save Yourself LLC was registered in April 2019 in Ufa. The founder was Dmitry Korshunov, the organization was headed by Artur Iskandarov. The company is currently liquidated.
