The authorities of the Kaliningrad region hope that the European scenario with the incidence of the Omicron strain will repeat itself in the region, and in a month the incidence of CORONAVIRUS will decline. This was announced by Governor Anton Alikhanov at an operational meeting in the government on Tuesday, January 25.

“We are seeing a serious increase in the number of people who are sick [with the coronavirus]. They don't get sick as badly as they did with the delta strain. We see that the omicron strain is dominant. In identified cases, the relative number of pneumonia does not increase. From this we can conclude that the course of the disease and its consequences, and hence mortality, will not be as dramatic as it was in previous waves. <...> We very much hope that the same scheme that operated in the European scenario will be repeated in our country: two to two and a half weeks of active rapid growth, 10-12 days of a plateau and then a gradual decrease in rates,” said the HEAD of the region .

He noted that the number of people wishing to be vaccinated against coronavirus has recently increased, but recommended that those vaccinated stay at home.

“On the one hand, this is good, but on the other,

given that the vaccine at some point weakens the immune system for several days, this is an additional risk of getting sick. I ask everyone to take the opportunity to stay at home for two days after vaccination and reduce their contacts. We have taken a sufficiently large number of measures to meet this wave and survive it. It is clear that the number of cases is no longer calculable; unfortunately, we are no longer in control of the epidemic process.
