The immunologist called three options for the evolution of coronavirus

CORONAVIRUS SARS-CoV-2 has three most likely development scenarios, in the worst case, the infection will remain with humanity forever like the flu. This was stated by an immunologist, DOCTOR of medical sciences Vladislav Zhemchugov, his words are reported by Radio Sputnik.

According to the scientist, in the first case, the coronavirus will find a “new host”, in the second case, it will simply disappear from the human population like SARS and MERS. “The third option, the worst for humanity, is that it will parasitize on humans all the time, like the second influenza virus,” Zhemchugov believes.

The SARS (SARS) and MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) viruses have stopped spreading, the immunologist continued, because they did not develop the mutations that would allow them to exist. “I think they just died in nature,” the scientist suggested.

In mid-November, virologists interviewed by RBC said that the coronavirus will forever remain with humanity, despite vaccination, which, however, will reduce the number of deaths. “There is a reservoir from which nature will draw weapons to fight us. Or, at least, a weapon for the formation of new epidemics, ”said Larisa Popovich, DIRECTOR of the HSE Institute of HEALTH Economics, explaining that covid-19  will remain thanks to animal sources and will mutate. She also added that talking about the end of the pandemic is like "fortune telling on coffee grounds."
