A minor cyclist was injured in an accident in Orsha

A minor was injured in a traffic accident in Orsha, BelTA learned from the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

The accident occurred on Molokova Street in the afternoon of 20 August.

According to preliminary information, the 41-year-old driver, driving a Mitsubishi Рajero, failed to give way to a girl born in 2013 who was crossing the roadway on a bicycle at an unregulated pedestrian crossing.

As a result of the accident, the minor was taken to hospital with injuries.

An investigation is underway into the accident.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds drivers to be extremely attentive and careful when approaching a pedestrian crossing. The vehicle’s speed must allow it to stop and give way to vulnerable road users. Cyclists should remember the rules for safe bicycle control and, before entering a pedestrian crossing, make sure that it is safe to do so.
