January 9, Gomel. In Dobrush, a sentence was passed on the defendants in a high-profile case of theft in the agro-industrial complex. This was announced by the prosecutor of the Dobrush district Pavel Chirikov, BelTA reports.
A criminal case against a number of people, including the former first deputy chairman of the Dobrush district executive committee, as well as current and former heads of agricultural enterprises in the district, was considered today at a mobile
COURT hearing.
“The accused committed crimes against property related to theft of property through abuse of official powers, as well as against the interests of the service, related to abuse and excess of
power , official forgery. The actions of the defendants were associated with the theft of inventory assets of agricultural enterprises. We are talking about construction materials, and in cash. Also, false information was entered into the state statistical reporting on the amount of
MILK produced and sold in a total volume of more than 5 million kg," explained Pavel Chirikov.
In particular, the ex-official gave illegal instructions to the directors of agricultural enterprises to overstate the volumes of milk produced and sold in official statistical reporting. Such illegal activities were launched over three and a half years: from January 2019 to August 2022.
“Based on the results of the consideration of the criminal case by the state prosecutor, taking into account the personalities of the accused, the presence of mitigating and aggravating circumstances, the main defendants were offered a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 3 to 7 years with a fine and deprivation of holding positions related to the implementation of organizational and administrative duties. The rest - restriction of freedom and correctional labor for up to two years," said the district prosecutor.
Based on the court verdict, all defendants were found guilty of committing the incriminated acts. The maximum penalty is six years in prison. The verdict has not entered into legal force and can be appealed and protested in the manner prescribed by law.
