June 18,
MINSK . Gomel Region enterprises increased the value of exchange transactions for the sale of their own products to the Russian market by 1.7 times, from $45.8 million in January-May
2024 to $76.5 million in January-May 2025. This was announced by Grigory Ginsar,
DIRECTOR of the Gomel Branch of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange, during a seminar for business entities organized by the Gomel City Executive Committee jointly with the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in Belarus, the BUCE press service told BELTA.
According to a representative of the exchange, most Gomel enterprises accredited at BUCE actively use the exchange mechanism in trade with Russian partners, exporting
a wide range of goods.
"In the Gomel region, forestry and agricultural products accounted for the bulk of
EXPORT sales to
RUSSIA this year. These primarily included sawn timber, pulp,
butter , powdered
MILK , and
MEAT products. For example, powdered milk accounted for 30% of export transactions, while sawn timber accounted for 24%. Among the new product categories, pulp is worth noting, as
it had not been supplied to the Russian market via the exchange until 2025. Over the past five months, the value of these export transactions exceeded $2.8 million," said the director of the Gomel branch of the Belarusian Commodity Exchange (BUCE).
As of June 18, 2025, 3,072 business entities from the Gomel region were accredited with the BUCE (an increase of 63 since the beginning of the year). From January to May of this year, they concluded exchange transactions worth a total of Br1.1 billion, which is 37% more than in the same period last year.
The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) was established in 2004. Its first trades took place in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises in exporting their products and to help foreign companies enter the Belarusian market. The exchange trades a wide range of metal, timber,
agricultural , industrial, and consumer goods.
