The Center for Agroanalytics of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture reports that the launch of a digital livestock breeding system is scheduled for 2023.

The system will provide the collection and analysis of comprehensive information on the number of breeding farm animals in Russia for the development of breeding programs aimed at increasing the genetic potential, says Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut.

The launch of the system, partially implemented within the framework of the FSIS "Mercury" for dairy products, is part of the project for the digital transformation of the country's agro-industrial complex.

According to Oksana Lut, the development of the necessary changes to the law on livestock breeding has already begun. Now efficiency and intensification of production are coming to the fore, and digital technologies should become tools to reduce costs. They are used in all industries and the need for automation is growing year by year. The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia supports this direction in the form of concessional lending to innovations, and the regions, in turn, offer their direct support measures. The introduction of the national digital agriculture platform will make it possible to receive them electronically from next year.
