The main goal of the new regulations is to create an accurate database of the country's livestock population. This will not only improve the planning and monitoring of state support measures but also enhance epizootic safety. Without accurate information on the number and condition of animals, it is difficult to make informed decisions for the development of the industry. The new regulations will apply to subsidies for various sectors, including sheep and goat farming, as well as reindeer herding.
To facilitate the process of livestock registration and labeling, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture is developing measures to reduce the financial burden on farmers. This includes the possibility of reimbursing the costs of necessary equipment and services for livestock breeding. Amendments have also been made to the agricultural development program, allowing for the allocation of additional funds to support livestock breeding.
Mandatory animal registration was introduced in Russia in March 2022, when Federal Law 221-FZ, which establishes deadlines for animal marking, came into force. These new initiatives are aligned with existing measures to modernize and develop agriculture, which should improve the efficiency of budgetary funds and product quality.
