Lavrov believes that US statements about cooperation are inconsistent with sanctions

US statements about the possibility of investment cooperation with Russia "do not fit" with Washington's sanctions policy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with RT.

US President Donald Trump is in no rush to lift sanctions against Moscow, but is instead escalating them, Lavrov stated earlier during a government hour in the Federation Council.

He recalled how Trump accused his predecessor, Joe Biden, of undermining faith in the dollar and pushing BRICS countries to seek alternative payment platforms.

"This process, aptly noted by the current US President, is now accelerating not only within BRICS. And Biden is certainly not alone in this, nor are the sanctions the culprit, which, incidentally, the current US leader is not only in no hurry to lift, but is actually escalating," Lavrov said.
