Avian influenza outbreak in Kamchatka: consequences and response measures

A poultry farm operating since 1960, specializing in the production of eggs and poultry meat, recorded a significant loss of poultry in one of the houses. Tests confirmed the presence of a highly pathogenic virus.

In response to this event, the regional Ministry of Agriculture established a monitoring and restriction zone within a 5-kilometer radius of the outbreak. Specialists are already on site to assess the situation and develop measures to prevent further spread of the virus.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza can pose a risk not only to birds but also to humans, especially in close contact with infected or dead birds. The Ministry urges citizens to immediately report any sightings of sick or dead birds to ensure a prompt response and minimize risks .

This outbreak highlights the importance of caution and preparedness for both public and animal health threats.
