The Progress agricultural production cooperative officially launched two modern robotic farms, each designed for 140 cows, and a facility for 300 calves. Vasily Muklin, Minister of Agriculture
and Food of Udmurtia, attended the opening ceremony . "Progress is a leading enterprise in the region, steadily improving its performance. Today, we see a logical continuation of this trend. Currently, four robots milk cows on this farm alone. Overall, the Alnashsky District now has nine such intelligent assistants, more than any other district in the republic. This is a significant contribution to the overall result for the region—there are currently 26 robotic farms operating in Udmurtia," the minister noted. Progress's path to high technology has been consistent. The farm's first robotic barn, designed for 140 cows, was built back in 2021 under its previous director, Viktor Lebedev. His successor, Alexander Shulakov, continued the modernization: in 2024 , he commissioned a second robotic complex, a 100-head calf barn, and a modern maternity ward. Merlin robotic milkers are currently employed on the farms. They take over all routine work, from udder treatment to the completion of milking. According to the farm's director, such automation is simply indispensable today: everyone is currently facing a labor shortage, and robots are becoming a reliable assistant in this situation. The cattle herd at Progress has reached 2,800 head and continues to grow. Last year, the farm produced 10,700 tons of milk, an increase of 108 tons compared to the same period last year. Last year, 19 cow barns, six calf barns, and six maternity wards were built in Udmurtia. Of these, 4 farms are robotized: the Rassvet farm in the Igrinsky district, the Luch farm in the Mozhginsky district, and the Pervy May and Molniya farms in the Malopurginsky district.
