MINSK . The Ivatsevichi District Department of the Investigative Committee has established the circumstances of a murder threat and arson attack on a private home, the Investigative Committee reported to BelTA.
Law enforcement agencies received a report on May 25 of a house on fire in the village of Nekhachevo, Ivatsevichi District. Rescuers arrived at the scene and extinguished
the fire , after which they heard cries for help. The homeowner and her two children were in the summer kitchen. As
it turned out, while firefighters were battling the blaze, her husband attempted to set fire to this structure as well, threatening to kill his family.
Emergency Ministry personnel stopped the troublemaker's criminal actions and held him until the arrival of the investigative team.
An investigator, along with a specialist from the Forensic Expertise Department for the Brest Region, inspected the scene. It was determined that several rooms in the house were completely destroyed by the fire. During interrogation, the accused admitted to arson but could not explain the motive, citing
ALCOHOL intoxication. However, the testimony of his wife and children helped reconstruct the chronology of events.
The victims reported that the accused had been drinking
alcohol that morning . After arguing with his wife, he threatened to burn the entire family to death. He doused the sofa with gasoline and set it on fire, engulfing the living room in flames. After futile attempts to extinguish the flames, the woman and children ran outside, and the accused chased after them, throwing agricultural implements at the eldest girl.
A pitchfork . After catching them in their summer kitchen, the Nekhachevo resident continued threatening violence.
The Ivatsevichi District Department of the Investigative Committee charged the 33-year-old man under Article 186 (threat to kill) and Part 2 of Article 218 (intentional damage and destruction of property in a generally dangerous manner) of the Criminal Code of Belarus. With the prosecutor's
approval, he was remanded in custody.
