The Investigative Committee began an inspection in connection with the mass death of a bird at a poultry farm in the Vologda region


"In connection with the revealed fact of the mass death of poultry at the production site in the village of Parfenovo, the Cherepovets Interdistrict Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Vologda Region is conducting a procedural check under Article 249 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of veterinary rules that negligently caused the spread of epizootics or other grave consequences)", - the message says.

Investigators examined the production premises of the poultry farm, recorded the fact of the death of birds. Poultry farm workers were interviewed, the necessary documentation was seized to assess compliance with veterinary rules.

Earlier, the press service of the regional government reported on the outbreak of bird flu at the Malechkinskaya poultry farm in the village of Parfyonovo. The diagnosis was confirmed in the basic laboratory with in-depth research in the city of Vladimir. The entire livestock of the farm - 493 thousand birds - is subject to seizure and destruction. Quarantine was introduced in the area of ​​the outbreak . An open reservoir, where migratory birds could bring the infection, became the alleged source of infection.

In 2022, the Malechkinskaya Poultry Farm produced about 130 million eggs, or 21% of the total production in the region. During the first half of this year, 65 million eggs were produced.

Avian influenza is an acute infectious disease that can be transmitted from birds to humans. In Russia, such incidents have not yet been recorded.
