Quarantine measures include:
- Ban on import and export of animals: This is aimed at preventing the movement of potentially infected individuals.
- Feed Harvesting Restrictions: Banning feed harvesting in the quarantine zone helps prevent the transmission of infection through contaminated feed.
- Prohibition on keeping sick animals: Owners are prohibited from keeping animals showing signs of illness.
- Ban on fairs: All fairs with livestock products in surrounding areas are also cancelled.
- Animal grazing restrictions: Grazing of animals susceptible to brucellosis is prohibited in the quarantine zone.
The quarantine will be lifted only 40 days after the slaughter of the last infected animal, which is necessary to completely eliminate the threat and carry out all veterinary measures.
Controlling the spread of brucellosis is important not only for livestock farmers but also for public health, as the disease can cause serious complications in humans.
