parainfluenza-3 , also known as bovine AI-3 or parainfluenza-3, is a contagious disease that predominantly affects calves. IT is characterized by high fever, conjunctivitis and inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. In severe cases, there may be damage to the lungs. This disease can lead to significant losses in agriculture, including loss of offspring and products, as well as costs for veterinary and therapeutic measures. The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Republic of Karelia decided to introduce restrictive measures ( quarantine ) and carry out the necessary veterinary measures to eliminate the outbreak and prevent the spread of the virus. This includes measures for disinfection, isolation of infected animals and vaccination . Unfortunately, this is not the first case of infection in Karelia. In January 2024 , an outbreak of brucellosis was identified in one of the farms in the Prionezhsky district. However, thanks to the timely actions of specialists, the necessary anti-epizootic and veterinary and sanitary measures were carried out, which helped eliminate the outbreak and restore the Health of the animals. It is important to note that to prevent the spread of infections in agriculture, strict hygiene measures and regular veterinary checks must be observed. It is also recommended to vaccinate animals, especially those that are at risk. This will help maintain the health of animals and prevent the emergence of new foci of infection.
