The Ministry of Natural Resources discussed a gradual reduction in the use of polymer packaging

The meeting of the Interdepartmental Coordination Council on the implementation of the action plan aimed at gradually reducing the use of polymer packaging and replacing IT with environmentally friendly ones was chaired by First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Alexander Korbut. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The meeting was attended by representatives of interested government bodies, regional and Minsk city executive committees, and concerns.

It was noted that at the end of 2023, an increase in the production of sack and wrapping paper, paper bags and bags by the enterprises of the Bellesbumprom concern, textile bags by the enterprises of the Bellegprom concern, packaging paper with barrier properties by the Paper Mill Unitary Enterprise of the Department of State Signs Ministry of Finance. There is also an increase in production volumes by organizations of the Belgospischeprom concern in glass containers in the Alcohol, oil and fat and brewing industries, as well as in paper packaging in the confectionery industry.

The volume of disposable tableware sold from materials of natural origin in the Belkoopsoyuz system amounted to 50.9% of the total volume of disposable tableware sold. The percentage of use of environmentally friendly (paper) packaging for packaging catering products at gas stations of the Belneftekhim concern is 99%.

At the end of the meeting, Alexander Korbut focused the attention of the council members on the need to strictly implement indicators to reduce the volume of production and use of plastic packaging and replace it with eco-friendly ones.
