Nine Rioters Sentenced in Baranovichi

April 15, Minsk . The Baranovichi District Court and Baranovichi sentenced nine defendants in a criminal case on participation in group actions that grossly violate public order, BELTA learned from the press service of the Brest Regional Court.

The defendants, being in a state ofalcohol intoxication , in August 2020, on the roadways in the area of Komsomolskaya, Sovetskaya and Gagarin streets in Baranovichi, acting in a group, shouted slogans and demonstrated white-red-white banners. Grossly violating public order, they deliberately obstructed the movement of transport and the normal functioning of enterprises and organizations.

"They deliberately took an active part in group actions that grossly violated public order, associated with clear disobedience to the legal demands of government officials , which led to the disruption of transport, enterprises and organizations," the press service summarized.

All defendants fully admitted their guilt in the court hearing. Based on Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code, they were sentenced to from one to one and a half years of imprisonment in a penal colony under general regime.

The sentence has not entered into legal force and can be appealed and contested in accordance with the procedure established by law.
