MINSK . In an open mobile
COURT hearing at the Department of Internal Affairs of the Baranovichi City Executive Committee, a civil case was considered regarding the referral of an alcohol-dependent male dependent to a labor treatment center. BELTA was informed about this by the information service of the Brest region prosecutor's office.
The defendant, a 52-year-old able-bodied city dweller, did not work anywhere and lived at the expense of his retired mother. In addition, the man abused
ALCOHOL. In response to the prosecutor’s question about whether he independently turned to a narcologist for medical assistance, the alcoholic explained that he did not consider himself addicted, since he could not drink
alcohol for a month .
it turned out, however, that if a man started using
alcohol , I couldn’t stop. Such drinking bouts always ended in a crime, and the alcohol-dependent man himself ended up on the street in an unconscious state, where he was detained by internal affairs officers.
After an official warning about a possible referral to a labor treatment center, the citizen “held out” for two months. As he himself explained, “this was his record of abstinence from alcohol.” In 2022, the man had already undergone a course of compulsory treatment in a medical treatment facility, but after his release he began to systematically commit offenses again in a state of
alcohol intoxication , which again brought him to the courtroom.
After listening to the interested parties and examining the written materials of the civil case,
the court decided to send the citizen to a special institution for 12 months for medical and social readaptation with mandatory involvement in work.
After the court hearing, the assistant to the Baranovichi interdistrict prosecutor spoke to the listeners present in the hall who were registered at the drug treatment clinic, to whom she once again explained the procedure and conditions for referral to the medical and social rehabilitation center for medical and social readaptation.
On the initiative of the Baranovichi Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office, since the beginning
of 2024 , with the participation of the prosecutor in mobile court hearings, 26 civil cases have already been considered regarding the referral of citizens to a labor treatment clinic. After each such meeting, employees of the interdistrict prosecutor's office held individual preventive conversations with citizens who abused alcohol, during which they explained the consequences of continuing an antisocial lifestyle.
